Serving Others
At St. Mark’s we believe our call to live as disciples of Jesus Christ must include serving others. This isn’t a “let’s help those poor people over there” sort of thing, but rather an opportunity to work alongside and with our neighbors.
Second Saturday Service Day: We constantly seek ways to engage in hands-on service with the desire to establish on-going relationships with others. Every second Saturday of the month, the Outreach team will organize an event. Some events will be at St. Mark’s, and others will be off-site working with various organizations throughout the region. Each project will be scheduled in advance, with a begin and end time, so everyone will know the time commitment. (Events typically run from 8:30-12). Mark your calendars for every second Saturday of the month! Upcoming Saturday Service days are:
- May 11, 10am: The Saintly Striders will participate in the New England Children’s Center 5K walk/run for autism 2019. Register online here. Contact: Liz McColloch, emccolloch@gmail.
com, or Vic Hart, vic_hart@yahoo.com. - May 11, 9am-12pm: Help at the church with some additional mulching and landscaping to complete the great work done during Blue Jean Sunday.
- June 8th
- July 13th
Some of the organizations we regularly serve alongside include:
Open Plate Offering: Each month we designate our open plate offerings to a specific non-profit organization that we believe exemplifies our values. Any money not specified for St. Mark’s in our Sunday morning collection is given to them entirely. For the month of May, money that is not designated for St. Mark‘s will go to Daniel’s Table.
