Neighbors For Peace

The idea of an interfaith group germinated over a cup of coffee at Red Barn Cafe by a Muslim, Dr. Safdar Medina, and a Christian, The Rev. Phil LaBelle. They met as neighbors in Southborough to discuss ways to build bridges rather than erect walls due to the divisive rhetoric in our country following the shooting in San Bernardino, CA in 2015.

Since that time, the group has grown significantly. We desire to bring together like-minded residents of Southborough and neighboring communities to promote peace and the respect and dignity of all people. We accomplish this work through peace vigils, community social events, service projects, educational opportunities, and speaking for peace and understanding. Additionally, the organization began a community-wide Iftar dinner during Ramadan, established a community interfaith Thanksgiving service, and sponsored other bridge-building events.
